DIY Natural Skin Care Tips/Tricks
I am all about finding ways to help care for my skin and body with a holistic approach, always looking for ways to treat any issue I may encounter with a holistic and natural approach. There are so many plants, fruits, vegetables, herbs and fungi in nature that are super easy to use and more cost effective than doctor appointments and expensive medications. Best of all – they are PURE!
Fresh Lemons
Lemons are a real treat for your skin fresh from nature and for under $1.00 per lemon – it has so many uses!
Dark spots & skin discolorations on your skin – you can go to a dermatologist and pay big $$$ or use all kinds of expensive creams but the BEST way to lighten those is with a lemon! Cut a wedge from a lemon and rub on your face (or wherever the dark spots are) and leave the lemon juice on the skin to dry. Repeat daily until your desired lightening color is achieved.
Oily prone skin – lemons are natural astringent and will remove that oil from your skin and leaving it feeling fresh, hydrated and glowing without the oil shine! Cut a wedge from a lemon and rub on your oily zone and allow to dry naturally, may be used a couple times a day (if needed).
Vitamin C & Anti-Inflammatory – lemons are loaded with vitamin c and antioxidants that will help to reduce skin damage and premature aging of the skin as well as reduce inflammation. Cut a wedge from a lemon and rub on your face allowing it to dry naturally.
Apple Cider Vinegar
ACV beauty for the face - ACV does not get enough press about how truly amazing this product is! It consists of acetic acid and alpha hydroxy acid and can exfoliate the skin, absorb excess oil and unplug blocked pores. The easiest way I have found to use ACV on my face is to dampen a round cotton pad (with texture on it for help with exfoliation) with small amount of water and then shake ACV bottle (well) and add a capful to the pad; smooth all over your face and neck to restore your PH levels, remove clogged pores and exfoliate your face.
ACV in the bathtub – can use this to treat sunburned skin as well as add ACV will restore your PH levels of all your skin as well as sooth skin irritations and inflammation. ACV is antimicrobial, antifungal and antiseptic so it can help with body odor (feet, armpits, etc.) as well! One cup of ACV to your (filtered) bath water and soak for at least 30 minutes, you can include a cup of magnesium flakes if you have achy muscles also.
Dandruff treatment – ACV is by far one of the most economical and safest ways to treat dandruff. Did you know that many of the dandruff shampoos contain chemicals such as coal tar and cocamide that actually cause cancer? If I ever have any dry flakes or dry patches on my scalp I always use ACV; just wash hair as usual and then pour an ACV rinse (1/4 c ACV & ¼ c water) over head, leave on 1-2 minutes and rinse with cool water.
